St. Ursula Golf Outing in Memory of Bill Keating, Jr.

“It took me seventeen years to get three thousand hits in baseball. I did it in one afternoon on the golf course.” – Hank Aaron

To Do Today: Dust off your golf clubs and join us on Monday, May 21st, at Maketewah Country Club, for the St. Ursula Academy Boosters Golf Outing in Memory of Bill Keating, Jr.

Thanks to a generous donor and friend, this year’s SUA Golf Outing is named in memory of our Dad. He was a passionate supporter of the Bulldogs; his mother is a graduate, as are both of his daughters, one of his sisters, and two of his nieces. As an SUA parent, Bill got involved with the school as a member of the Board of Trustees and a volunteer official for the swim team. He continued to stay involved in SUA athletics after his daughters graduated.

Bill experienced a life-changing moment when he was in college. The women he swam with were not given the same opportunities to compete at the collegiate level. Although they trained along-side him, he was given a varsity letter and they were not. Bill spent the rest of his life actively working to even the playing field and elevate girls’ sports. A lot has changed since the 1970s, but his mission continues.

The proceeds from the golf outing support SUA Athletics. You can help us honor Bill’s legacy by giving these girls an opportunity to learn lessons and build relationships that will last a lifetime and to compete in college and earn their varsity letter. As Bill always said, “It’s our time to make a difference. The future of women’s sports is unlimited and we need to invest in it and be a part of it. Let’s show the world that girls got game!”
