Below is a previous 4th of July THD written by our Dad.
As we celebrate the 4th of July let us remember we have our freedom, and our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as a result of the sacrifices our veterans made for us.
President Reagan said that, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
Reagan went on to say that our freedom must be fought for, protected, and handed on to each generation, “or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States when people were free.”
As you know, our founding fathers won our freedom in the Revolutionary War and our veterans have protected it with each passing generation.
During World War, II, Winston Churchill said that, “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”
That statement is as true today as it was back then.
We owe it to our veterans to not let their sacrifices to protect our freedom be forgotten.
And we need to remember that “Freedom Is Not Free” and all of us, not just our veterans, must fight for, protect, and hand our freedom on to our next generations.
As you celebrate our freedom this July 4th, let’s think about how each and every one of us can help to preserve our history, to learn from it, and to teach it to our children and our children’s children.
May our deceased veterans rest in peace, Godspeed to our living veterans and to the service men and women stationed throughout the world, and God Bless America.
