In honor of Father’s Day Weekend, I am sharing a poem about my Dad written by his friend, John Stephan.
Bill, you always encouraged us to seize the day,
With your thoughts, wise words, and quotations.
Your gentle hand helping us find our way,
With patience, love, and good vibrations.
Though your time with us had all too short a date,
You blessed us with so many beautiful memories.
Trying to pick the best could be lost in debate,
Because there are far too many great stories.
From beating high school swimmers at planks,
To training to swim the English Channel’s length.
We all are left with so many unsaid thanks,
For your time, your grace and strength.
And when you left this earth
and we said our broken-hearted good-bye,
The Devil knew you were bound for Heaven
and didn’t even try.
