“Begin with the end in mind – show our next generation the great opportunities available to them, then encourage and support them as they pursue their dreams.” – Bill Keating, Jr.

For several years, Dad worked with female leaders, athletes, and coaches within our community to sell out the Women’s Crosstown Shootout — the annual basketball game between XU and UC.

He believed that selling out the Women’s Crosstown Shootout was a way to honor female athlete pioneers — those who competed prior to Title IX and paved the way for today’s female athletes. It was also a way to support today’s female student-athletes by filling the stands. Most importantly, it was a way to promote the future of women’s sports. By exposing young female athletes to the Women’s Crosstown Shootout, the seed might be planted that if they continued to work hard, one day they could compete at the highest level in front of a sold-out crowd.

To Do Today: The 2017 Women’s Crosstown Shootout is this Sunday, December 10 at 5:00 PM at the Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University. Come to the game with your kids and grandkids to honor the past, support the present, and plant the seed for the future.
