Over the next five Saturdays, we will be running our Words of Remembrance that we shared at our Dad’s funeral. We’ll begin with the youngest sibling, Joe, who is 5 minutes younger than his twin brother Paul.
Good morning everyone, I want to thank you for coming this morning and helping us celebrate my father’s life. I am Joe Keating, tied for the youngest of the five kids. As most everyone knows, my father sent out a Thought of the Day to his children every morning giving us life lessons and calls to action for the day. He did this every day, for every one of his kids, and a whole host of others. However, on August 17, 2009 he sent out a second thought of the day that no one, outside of me, got to see. That was the day I started law school and I wish to share it with everyone today:
Joe,
Your Thought of the Day as you start law school.
“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” – Dale Carnegie
To Do Today: Get to know your classmates, professors and the second and third year students who have already been there and completed their 1st year of law school.
-Dad
Those words best explained the way and the manner my Dad lived, getting to know everyone he encountered and taking genuine interest in so many people and causes.
