“Never underestimate the power of your dreams.” – Wilma Rudolph
To Do Today: Believe in the beauty of your dreams and have the courage to follow through.
This past June, I competed in the Ohio Senior Olympics, trying to qualify for the National Senior Olympics, being held in the summer of 2017. At the meet, I won 2 gold and 4 silver medals, qualifying in 6 events. As you know, in August, I had a brain tumor removed. Following the surgery and during my chemo and radiation, I was not allowed to swim. This weekend, I was finally given clearance to get back in the pool and participate in the sport I love — swimming. I began my training for the 2017 National Senior Olympics with my two daughters and my friend, Dr. Jay Johannigman, by my side. My dream of competing next summer is back.
